Critics and reviewers play a powerful role in bringing new works to the public’s attention.

But they can't tell you precisely what the *creator* of those works was thinking.

That insight can only come from the horse's mouth, as it were. (Yes, I realise I'm the horse in this metaphor.)

So after sharing with you some of the reader reviews and media coverage my book Manage the Gap: Achieving Success with Intergenerational Teams has received since its publication, today I'd like to share my own perspective and intentions in writing it.

At the book's launch, I gave a talk on the changing landscape of the British workplace and the implications of an ageing, increasingly multigenerational workforce.

For a walk-through of what's on the horizon, and why diversity and flexibility are the keys to success now and for the future, watch this video excerpt:

Of course I cover this topic in a lot more detail in the book itself, along with chapters on the skills and attitudes each generation brings to the workplace, strategies to manage an inter-generational workforce, how to communicate successfully with a diverse team, and more.

So if this all sounds interesting to you, I hope you'll get your own copy of Manage the Gap and use it to make your workplace an intergenerational powerhouse.

Manage the Gap roundtable

I'll also be running a breakfast roundtable event on Tuesday 10 December in London, intended specifically for senior HR professionals, CEOs and business owners. I'll be sharing:

  • How the generations work differently, and what that means for you

  • Practical ways to build successful inter-generational teams

  • Tips on how you can implement them in your business
