On the 25th September 2018 the Lord Mayor’s Appeal held its annual City Giving Day where firms based in the City of London could take part in various activities to raise money for the work of the Appeal.

The day’s activities included:

  • A static bike cycling challenge at St Paul’s Cathedral

  • A bake-off in the office, including a challenge to 'fill the letters' with spare change

  • A treasure hunt around the City

  • A quiz evening hosted by Pinsent Masons

A record 300+ businesses took part in this year's City Giving Day, and with so much to do, the whole team in our Leadenhall Street office really got involved!

Our cycling challenge riders managed a distance of 26937.63 metres and came 21st out of 68 teams – plus the challenge raised £310 for the Appeal.

The bake-off raised £184.12 with delicious contributions ranging from quiches to chocolate truffles, and sausage rolls to ginger biscuits! The Letter challenge raised £17.58.

The treasure hunt was a chance to chat to groups from other companies out and about round the City, and raised £125.00 in total from the teams taking part.

One of our teams came third in the quiz, which raised £150.00 from everyone taking part including nearly £500 donated on the night by all teams for a ‘raffle with a difference’.

speechCEO Steve Butler commented: ‘We were very pleased to get involved with the Lord Mayor’s City Giving Day for the first time this year, and it’s been great to see so many of our Leadenhall team taking on challenges like time-pressured cycling, or getting stuck into baking new recipes! We’re looking forward to taking part in next year’s CGD already, and raising funds for the charities the Lord Mayor’s Appeal supports.’
