Punter Southall Aspire are delighted to be recognised as an Age Friendly Employer by Business in the Community in their 2020 Responsible Business awards.

Business in the Community exists to inspire and engage businesses to become more responsible and tackle some of the society's biggest issues. Punter Southall Aspire have been recognised in their annual awards as BITC Responsible Business Champions, in the Age category.

The award recognises businesses who are demonstrating a strong commitment to an aging workforce, responding to the opportunities and challenges involved in an ageing workforce, and creating workplaces where people of all ages can thrive.

BITC highlighted Punter Southall Aspire's ‘Manage the Gap’ initiative in particular, which champions inclusion and diversity across a growing multi-generational workforce – contributing to a more harmonious and productive business culture.

Steve Butler, Punter Southall Aspire CEO said:

“There’s no question our workforce is ageing. The trends all point to more older workers staying in jobs or returning to the workforce. Employers need to actively manage the needs of all generations to successfully navigate this demographic change.

Different generations are likely to have different skills, assets and attitudes towards work and how companies manage these differences will be critical. These challenges will also bring opportunities. Employers will have the chance to turn the changing demographics into something positive for their business and to harness and embrace the different skills, experiences and attitudes of each generation.

To manage an age-diverse workforce successfully, organisations need to acknowledge how the mindsets and life experiences of different generations affect how they approach their work and working together. Understanding how to manage a diverse workforce has been key to improving our workplace culture over the past 12 months.”

At Punter Southall Aspire we've doubled our workforce in the past 18 months and are committed to having a positive impact on the world at all levels: within the workplace, in our local communities, and on the environment. We recently became signatories of the BITC Race at Work Charter, demonstrating a commitment to improving outcomes for ethnic minority employees in the workplace.
