York get baking for Macmillan!

Friday 28th September was the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Each year, Macmillan asks people all over the UK to host their own Coffee Mornings and donations on the day are made to the charity to assist with their research and support.

With last year’s coffee morning having raised over £27 million nationally, Punter Southall Aspire’s York office wanted to try and help make this year’s total even higher!

Commenting on the fundraising, York-based Principle Caroline Gains said: ‘We love taking part in the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning each year and knowing that we’re helping raise much-needed money to support everything that Macmillan does. This year’s cakes were a particularly tasty bunch and the winner of the unofficial bake-off competition was a Forest Fruits cake...I’m looking forward to next year’s selection already!

City Giving Day

We were very pleased to get involved with the Lord Mayor’s City Giving Day for the first time in 2018, and again in 2019. It was great to see so many of our London team taking on challenges like time-pressured cycling, or getting stuck into baking new recipes!

Charities supported for the next three years are:

Helping children who face bullying, abuse and neglect.

“Somewhere to go, something to do, someone to talk to” – providing teenagers with Youth Zones.

To develop wellbeing in the City.

Fundraising for Marie Curie

Phil Casey, a Managing Principal in our Oxford office, has worked hard to raise awareness for the wonderful Marie Curie charity, including donning a tabard and daffodil hat to collect money. Combined donations from our London and Oxford offices raised enough to pay for eleven hours of nursing care for someone at the end of their life.

Helping the next generation

Our London City office is near the edge of the City of London and only a few steps away is the Sir John Cass Foundation primary school which has several hundred pupils on its roll.

Punter Southall Aspire staff volunteer to read with pupils during lunchtimes, helping the next generation of thinkers.

We were recently very glad to be able to donate some PS Aspire water bottles and notebooks to the school to help the new Nursery and Reception pupil intakes.

Commenting, Head Teacher Miss Allan said: “Thank you so much for the donation.  It is very much appreciated. At a time when budgets are tight for schools both the books and the water bottles have been greatly received. It is our intention for all Nursery and Reception children to be issued with new water bottles next term so thank you very much."
